Sharing is caring: about circular fashion and the role of fashion renting
These situations happened to me sometimes. When I look back, all I can think is: what if we bought one top and shared it? We would probably enjoy it just as much, it would cost us half the money and we would have no problem wearing it at the same time. Unfortunately for me, we never thought of that.
In this blog we will therefore zoom in on sharing clothes by renting. What are the advantages of this and how does it contribute to circular fashion?
What is circular fashion
Circular fashion is reusing clothing as much as possible, until it is really worn out. In this way we contribute to a more sustainable world. Reusing clothing can of course be done in many different ways. One of these different ways is sharing clothing in the form of renting.
What is fashion renting?
Renting fashion is actually the same as paying for use. Instead of buying an expensive item, you borrow it for when you need it. This way you only pay for what you use and it costs you a lot less money. For example, do you have a lot of basics and few statement pieces? Rent a statement piece! This way you can always vary your look, without the commitment of an expensive expense.
The benefits of pay-per-use
Paying for what you use is circular, because one item is shared until it is really gone. This way it does not hang around in a closet unnecessarily. What does it bring you now? We list it:
- You vary your look
- You save money; paying for use is cheaper
- You only buy items that you really like.
For example, are you not a dress type but do you have a party where you actually have to go? By renting it, you won't be stuck with it unnecessarily. Or do you have a lot of basics and few statement pieces? By renting, you can better assess whether those yellow pants are really your thing ;)
How do I do that, rent fashion?
Online at The Community of Closets fashion can be rented. Our platform enables paying for the use of fashion. Take a look at our collection, read more about our mission or how it works.
